There are edits underway for these chapters, I hope to have them show up in Rough Cuts in the next few weeks along with the next chapters. The book will target the Cocos2D version 1.0 API, so the examples in these chapters will be updated to the latest development release of Cocos2D on each update.
If you don’t want to use git to get Cocos2D, you can simply download it from the Cocos2D website at: http://www.cocos2d-iphone.org/download
If you get a BASE SDK Missing message, click on the Space Viking Project in Xcode and then click the Info button. Change the Project’s SDK to one available in your Xcode drop-down.
Lastly, the latest Cocos2D templates are already setup as universal applications, so you will be able to skip the transitioning to iPad step in the book. Remember for Chapters 1-4 the Space Viking game is setup for iPad, we cover transitioning to iPhone and iPhone 4 resolution a little later in the book.
